In March 2014 the Keep Playing team and some of our Play Champions spent a fun day at Weavers Adventure Playground building a pedal powered kit with the help of the marvellous people at Electric pedals.
See here for a short film of the bikes in action and the well charged power board. The kit comes with a projector, DVD player and screen to be used for cinema evenings
We built 3 A frame bikes and a smaller pink bike, learnt how to connect the audio desk and projector to the power board and to the bikes while learning a bit about the science of pedal power.
We've had a couple of trials of the equipment and last weekend Lauriston School hired the kit for their summer fair. Children kept the music going from midday until 5.00pm as well as powering up the mirco phone to annouce prizes for best cakes, costumes and the raffle winners.
With plenty of active children of all ages and a few adults the music went off just once throughout the day and not for long.
